Work Package 6 - Process Control and Optimisation

Multivariate contol schematicWP6 concerns the development of the advanced control and monitoring strategies which are critical to bringing the digital design approach into practice in manufacturing.

Partners, predominantly the work package lead Perceptive Engineering, and PSE, are developing a new generation of Model Predictive Controllers and associated monitoring technology, making use of hybrid model structures to allow robust control/monitoring of continuous and batch pharmaceutical production.

The platform under development will smoothly transfer all the knowledge gathered during Process Development into the manufacturing environment in a comprehensive and traceable manner. The Model Predictive Control system will automatically handle the uncertainty associated with the PAT measurements, to maintain the operational parameters within the Design Space, creating an automatic risk management system to deliver a highly robust system.
