Perceptive Engineering publishes APC training information

ADDoPT partners Perceptive Engineering have recently published a range of brochures detailing training course in advanced process control topics.

PERCEPTIVE APC - why, how, when and where Advanced Process Control techniques can be used to improve the efficiency, quality and robustness of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes

Open PERCEPTIVE APC workshop brochure
The workshop involves a detailed review of primary and secondary manufacturing units, with a focus on dynamic modelling to better understand the cause-effect relationships across the individual production units within the overall production process. An introduction to basic control ensures all delegates are familiarised with
the concepts of feedback control, before being presented with the advanced techniques which have been applied for most Pharmaceutical production units.
The workshop:

  • Introduces the concepts of Advanced Process Control
  • Reviews the interface between regulatory automation and APC
  • Works through Case Studies developing dynamic process models
  • Builds and simulates a dynamic process model
  • Develops a Model Predictive Controller
  • Demonstrates how to include at-line data into the APC system

PATNAV - improving the Efficiency and Robustness of Pharmaceutical Batch and Continuous Manufacturing Processes

Open PATNAV workshop brochure
PATNAV methodology has been developed to demonstrate when to (and when not to) integrate PAT to enable improved controllability and process optimisation within pharmaceutical processes. The benefits sought are focused around the reduction in process variability, yielding improvements in both quality and productivity.
PATNAV comprises a two-day workshop, providing the toolset and skills for identifying the production assets which offer the greatest opportunity for optimisation, while demonstrating how to add PAT. Using leading-edge software, delegates will learn how to add PAT to their process, how to analyse process variability using that new data, and how apply real-time statistical monitoring or feedback control, to achieve the greatest benefit.

DIGITAL TWIN - improving the design, development and transfer of formulated products into manufacturing using the “Digital Twin” methodology

Open DIGITAL TWIN workshop brochure
Model-based engineering tools to identify an optimised route for pharmaceutical drug development are in regular use, but achieving technology transfer into the manufacturing environment has remained a challenge. Through a collaboration by PSE and Perceptive Engineering there is now an integrated platform for Product Development and Manufacturing. This overcomes the difficulties of transference of models and knowledge, enabling a complete control system to be generated from mechanistic process development models.
The Digital Twin workshop comprises a two-day hands on activity, introducing the tools and skills for development of mechanistic models, optimised DoE’s, Model based control and multivariate monitoring techniques to deploy on a GxP ready platform. Using leading-edge software, delegates will learn the how the “Digital Twin” is constructed, explore, through sensitivity analysis, the impact of raw material variability and determine when and how a feedback/feedforward model predictive control system can improve product quality and optimise throughput.
